It’s been a week since I helped host an Open-Mic event where I volunteer and I must say it went very well! The youth I worked with got up in front of others and said said poems, shared artwork, sang, and even rapped. Not only was it a fun time for the youth I serve… it was a chance for them to be heard, and they greatly appreciated it!
Many of them asked how the idea of Open-Mic night came to be and I was able to share with them the experiences and lessons that I learned while in Sacramento!
