Action Alert: Sign on to Support AB 2547!

 Dear CCY Supporters –

We are thrilled to report that AB 2547 (Blumenfield), which would establish the Office of the Homeless Youth Advocate, passed out of Assembly Human Services with 5 aye votes and one abstention. The bill will be heard in the Assembly Appropriations Committee on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 where it will face a very difficult challenge. As sponsors of this bill, we are asking for your help with sending the message to the Appropriations Committee that despite the cost, the Office of the Homeless Youth Advocate is critical to preventing and ending youth homelessness in California. Please consider signing on to the letter below as either an individual, or if you represent an organization, by asking your organization to sign on.

To sign on to the letter as an individual, please email your name and your city of residence toadvocacy@calyouth.org.

To sign on to the letter as an organization, please email your organization’s name, city, contact person and title, to advocacy@calyouth.org.

All sign-on requests must be received by the close of business on Thursday, May 10, 2012.

Together, we can effectively drive the passage of this bill, which is a critical step towards a coordinated, statewide effort to prevent and end youth homelessness in California.

Sincerely,

Heather M. Dearing

Executive Director
