California Coalition for Youth

 cycl California Youth Crisis Line
For more than 20 years, CCY has operated the California Youth Crisis Line (CYCL), a toll-free helpline available 24 hours a day to youth and their families in crisis or need. Counselors respond to approximately 12,000 calls annually with confidential and non-judgmental crisis-intervention counseling and provide appropriate referrals to assist callers with issues such as family problems, runaway and homelessness, depression, teen pregnancy, substance abuse, suicide and more. It is an immediate, reliable, free and confidential connection between youth and the much-needed services in their community. Through a collaborative agreement, overflow calls to the California Youth Crisis Line may be answered by the National Runaway Switchboard (NRS). NRS, founded in 1971, has served as the national communication system for runaway and homeless youth since 1974, the only organization to ever have that distinction.  The NRS mission is to keep America’s runaway and at-risk youth safe and off the streets. For more information, call1-800-RUNAWAY or visit www.1800RUNAWAY.org.
