The California Coalition for Youth recently had an installation on display on the Governor’s Wall at the State Capitol. The purpose of the project was to highlight the needs of California’s homeless youth population. To date, no branch of California state government is mandated to provide direct services to homeless youth, and there is no statewide plan, strategy or funding for homeless youth programs. This year, the California Coalition for Youth is launching a major advocacy initiative to address the disparity of services provided to homeless youth throughout California to ensure that they have access to the programs, resources and services they need to live successful lives. As part of this initiative, we’d like to share the stories of three individuals who were able to overcome the obstacles of homelessness with the help of some members of our coalition.
